报告题目:Engineer cellulolytic bacteria for one-step conversion of biomass to value added chemicals
Dr. Yu Deng received his Ph.D in chemical and life science engineering at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in 2011. His research at VCU was about a less studied cellulolytic actinobacterium, Thermobifida fusca. He got his MS of fermentation engineering and BS of biotechnology from Jiangnan University in 2005 and 2007, respectively. After getting his Ph.D, Dr. Deng spent 2 years on Lee Lynd’s Lab at Dartmouth College and his study area was metabolic engineering a cellulolytic bacterium, Clostridium thermocellum. After finishing his postdoctoral training, Dr. Deng started his independent research and teaching career at the department of biological and agricultural engineering at Kansas State University as the assistant professor in 2013. He is running the Biological Systems Engineering Laboratory as the PI at Kansas State University.
